For many years, dance has had a specific type of body that has been presented on the performance stage. This has created a narrow and uniform representation of what the body looks like and what bodies can do. The unambiguous body image on stage has given the audience a specific idea of what a dancing body looks like and what they imagine a dancing body can do. It is therefore a necessity to push the Danes’ perception of, What the artistic body looks like and how a high-quality artistic expression can be staged.

The work with the dissemination of integrated dance in Denmark has been ongoing since 2013, and the next step is to professionalize FIMD so that the association can found a company that creates integrated dance and choreography, and can be recognized on an equal footing with other actors in the Danish performing arts industry.

Creating a professionally integrated dance company is the ultimate long-term goal and must be a daily focus of the organization, and the goal is to create an ensemble of dancers with a fixed schedule and salary. They will be the first in Denmark to experience that all types of dancers can have the opportunity to have a stable and creative working life. Everyone in and around the company is involved in the organization of daily life.
