Workshop: Hvilesteder/This is a Place of Rest
A workshop about resting into a place. We invite participants to listen with their bodies and let time unfold at a different pace.
Through guided exercises, we immerse ourselves in the area around Dansekapellet – in its materials, stories and atmospheres. We allow the body to calm down and explore how rest can be a way to connect with a place, both physically and mentally.
With our resting bodies, we open up other ways of being in and with places. Perhaps rest can be the beginning of a gentle revolution, where people and places come together in a common resistance against exhaustion, exploitation and constant acceleration. Rest is a powerful gesture in a world where the planet’s resources are already under pressure.
The workshop creates quiet, powerful images that can move both those who participate and those who simply witness. All bodies are welcome to participate.
The language of the workshop is English. We meet in Dansekapellet although the workshop takes place outdoors. Please dress for the weather.
Nana-Francisca Schottländer works cross-aesthetically within dance, performance and installation. With the body as a living and investigative instrument, she creates works that revolve around intimacy and co-creation in the encounter with other-than-human beings such as stone, earth and water. In recent years, she has created a number of large-scale works in Copenhagen and Norway in collaboration with Metropolis.
