MotherTree
Mother Tree is a ritual celebration of life in all its chaos, highlighting how physically challenging conditions are no obstacle to dancing with your soul. From spark, to water creation, to anchored upward striving tree.
In this performance, dancer and performer Cath Borch Jensen takes hold of life. Since struggling into the world as a three-month premature baby and later spastic woman, she now creates and lives the life she loves.
Her innately overactive nervous system and constantly tense body is moved and led by the inner images of Butoh dance and the soundscapes of soprano and composer Annemette Pødenphandt.
Cath Borch Jensen is a dancer and body activist. As a spastic and wheelchair user, she is a pioneer of integrated modern dance in Denmark and was one of the founders of FIMD with whom she has toured the country with both performances and workshops. Together with dancer and choreographer Tora Balslev, she created the dance performance SPLASTIC in 2015 based on an aspect of the Japanese dance form Butoh called ImageWork.
