I Dare You To Look At Me

I Dare You To Look At Me is a dance performance about body ideals and being different.

The performance addresses themes such as identity, acceptance, body ideals and the challenges of being yourself when you look different. It also looks into society’s perception of normality and the common idea of what the body should look like.

It revolves around our fascination with the different and what we were taught as children not to stare at. In an age of boundless voyeurism, the show looks directly at itself and gives the audience permission and even encourages them to look closely.

By exhibiting differences, we explore identity, acceptance and the right to be yourself in a world with fixed ideas of what a body should look like. The goal is to break the norms of normality, nuance the gaze and create space for greater self-acceptance.

We want to invite you into an open-minded bubble where you can safely look at everything that society’s norms don’t allow you to look at.
