FIMD invites you to COLLEAGUES’ DAY on 24 October
At Dansekapellet, Bispebjerg Torv 1, 2400 Copenhagen NV – Studio 2

How do we create inspiring dance practices when people with and without disabilities dance together?

On Saturday, 24 October, FIMD – the Danish Association for Integrated Modern Dance – invites you to COLLEAGUES’ DAY at Dansekapellet. A day for dancers, dance practitioners, facilitators and artists who are interested in or work with integrated dance. We will exchange experiences, explore dance practices and create new connections across our field.

The day includes:

10:15–10:30 – Welcome and coffee/tea
10:30–11:30 – First aid and CPR with the Danish Heart Association
11:30–12:30 – Shared lunch
12:30–14:00 – Soft Passenger – The Movement of Our Attention – workshop with Nicola Visser & Astrid Hellerup Elmstrøm
14:15–15:15 – Conversation on how we build a strong professional community
15:15–15:40 – Sharing experiences and new initiatives
15:40–16:00 – We end the day on the dance floor

In the Soft Passenger workshop, we explore how we can be together through a particular quality of attention – an attention that creates safety and space for dance to grow from the inside out.

Astrid Elmstrøm is a dancer and teacher who performed with JUSTART for six years. Her work includes intergenerational dance and improvisation with people with different abilities, explorations of sign dance, and collaborative performances in Aarhus.

Nicola Visser is a community dance artist, teacher and researcher working internationally. As a co-founder of JUSTART, she creates inclusive performances and participatory projects that explore who can dance and how. Her practice draws on improvisation, mixed-ability dance and artistic research.

Both Astrid and Nicola were invited by FIMD to collaborate on their artist-in-residence projects at Egmont Højskole in 2021 and 2022.

JUSTART is a performing arts company based in Aarhus that develops integrated and inclusive artistic projects that challenge assumptions about who can participate in the arts and in what ways. The company combines artistic research, community engagement and international collaboration, with a strong focus on access as both a creative and structural practice.

The workshop will be held in English.

Registration deadline: 12 October

Email annakatrine@integrateddance.dk and let us know whether you will be attending for the full day or only before/after lunch. If there is anything we should be aware of regarding your accessibility needs, please let us know when you register.
